Phantom Sanctuary - Breanna Robinson Solo Exhibition

Opening Reception + Artist Talk October 15 @ 5:00p.m.

Exhibition Open October 15 - November 14

Exhibition Summary:

Phantom Sanctuary builds a speculative space using fragments of inherited practices, personal memories, and material cultures. Moving across systems of divination and vernacular rituals of everyday life, Robinson considers how meaning is made from the uncertain, the remembered, and the yet to be seen.

Drawing from Black diasporic cultures, Chicago’s civic histories, and familial records, materials are transformed through repetition, inscription, and fabulation. Archival images broken apart and reassembled, dreams turned numbers turned patterns, familiar objects assigned unfamiliar functions. The resulting works form an interstitial space, a sanctuary at once remembered and imagined.
